Speech Pathology
Paediatrics
Speech Pathology may help your child with speech, language, voice, fluency (stuttering) or swallowing.
We specialise in…
-
Providing Speech Therapy for children with speech sound errors may include assessment, diagnosis of a delay or disorder, treatment and home practice exercises to help your child to pronounce sounds and words correctly to be understood by those around them.
-
Speech Pathologists can assess and treat language difficulties such as difficulty understanding what is said or written, following instructions or understanding a conversation. Speech Pathology can also provide therapy for expressive language difficulties in children, such as language delay, language disorders, literacy difficulties and dyslexia.
-
Speech Pathologists work with swallowing and feeding difficulties, too, from infants to children of all ages who may have an aversion to food or frequently choke, cough, gag or have other problems with mealtimes.
-
A language delay may also include children who are late talkers or haven’t developed a vocabulary of more than 100 words in pre-school years. Children with early indicators of Autism may see a Speech Pathologist receive therapy targeting play skills or using pre-language skills (e.g. turning to their name, turn taking with other children, copying sounds).
